She is involved in research in the field of corpus linguistics, focusing on the acquisition of Italian as a second language, vocabulary and phraseology in first and second language contexts, discourse analysis, annotation and processing of linguistic corpora.

Irene Fioravanti

Irene Fioravanti

Research Fellow in Applied Linguistics

Her research interests include psycholinguistics and corpus linguistics. Her work explores the psychological aspects of L2 acquisition, the processing and use of phraseological units in both L1 and L2 speakers, and the integration of psycholinguistic methodologies with corpus-based approaches.

Fabio Zanda

His research interests focus on topics related to L2 Italian Language Assessment, with particular attention to lexical and collocational knowledge and use, as well as statistical data analysis within Language Testing. Furthermore, he conducted research on quantitative approaches to linguistic analysis, especially in the areas of Corpus Linguistics and Learner Corpus Research.

Pioneer researcher in Internet Technologies, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Grid Computing, Cloud Computing, Free and Libre Open Source Software, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Systems with a focus on tele-rehabilitation, e-Assessment technologies. Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Perugia University. Deputy Director of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of Perugia University since November 2019. He is President since 2023 of the professional degree course L-P03 “Programming andmanagement of computer systems”. He is the Project Leader of the LibreEOL platform for carrying on exams in presence or remotely in a secure way, adopted by the University of Perugia as theonly platform to carry on exams remotely during the pandemic of COVID-19. He is President and co-founder of the not for profit Organization ICCSA since 2013. ICCSA runs yearly the International Conference on Computational Science and Its Applications since its foundation.

Ph.D., Adjunct Professor at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Perugia. His research activity is focused on Virtual and Augmented Reality, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, GPGPU Computing, Parallel and Distributed environments, and Web Development. In the past, he has carried out work to investigate predictive models to optimize the most important operators in emerging Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Currently participating in a PRIN research project for the analysis of Italian corpus with artificial intelligence. Since 2015, he has been the technical manager of the LibreEOL project.

A prominent academic figure at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Perugia, where he has dedicated years to teaching and research. Specialized in fields such as distributed and parallel systems, computer networks, and computer architecture, he has trained numerous generations of students throughout his career. His scientific activity is distinguished by the integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence models, into practical and mobile applications. In addition to teaching, he has held positions of institutional responsibility within the department, actively contributing to the dissemination of laboratory activities and the growth of the local scientific community.
